Octagonal Limestone Fountain with a Carved Capital

A close relative of our scrolled capital fountain, and the warmer of the two. The stone here has kept a sand and biscuit tone throughout rather than weathering grey, and the octagonal basin is finished with a rounded moulded coping that turns cleanly at every angle. The central shaft carries a flared collar and a carved drum capital with two iron spouts, and the original iron tie bars still run across the water. Its lower, wider proportion makes it read as a pool rather than a monument. Suited to pool environments, terraces and courtyard gardens.
