Lion Mask Pool Fountain Running in a Planted Garden Pool

Photographed in service, which is the fairest way to judge a fountain. A carved lion mask holds the centre of the backplate, flanked by scrolled ears and capped with a ball finial, and throws three clear arcs into the scalloped bowl below. The bowl drains to a stepped pedestal carved with a laurel wreath roundel, standing in a shallow octagonal pool of pale green water. The limestone shows warm ochre blooming through a cream ground. A piece for planted garden pools, poolside settings and courtyards where the sound of moving water matters.
