Carved Limestone Fountain Bowl with Lion Mask Spouts

Photographed close, because the carving is the whole argument. A deep bowl on a waisted baluster foot is worked with a continuous band of palmette relief, and at each corner a lion mask is carved fully in the round with a metal spout nozzle set in its jaw. The bowl rim is thick and slightly irregular, and green weathering has settled into the recesses of the relief while the high points have stayed pale. The foot rises from a rough stone octagonal coping. Suited to courtyards, garden walls, pool environments and estate gardens.
